Description:
The term 'leon' means 'lion' and has been around in one form or another since the early period. Other attested forms are 'leo', lio', 'lion', and 'lajyn'. The AXZ settled on 'leon' as the official, preferred form in the early modern period, but this form was already gaining dominance before that time. In modern High Common, everyone uses 'leon'. Leon has essentially no use as a verb, other than in the sense of 'be a lion', but it has some metaphorical extension in its modifier form 'leonys'. The 'leonys' form can mean somethign like 'fierce', 'brave' or 'intimidating', and is generally regarded as a positive descriptor for a person.
