Description:
The term 'fino' entered Common during the early period, possibly from analogy to the Spanish 'vino', and means 'wine'. A variant 'vino' is actually attested in some early writings, but it had essentially died out completely by the modern period. It doesn't have any real currency as a verb. 'White wine' is referred to as 'na zilus fino' and red wine is referred to as just 'fino' or 'na synti fino' (so 'dark wine' instead of 'red wine'. The modifier form 'finos' means 'wine-coloured' and has the sense of the colur of red wine.
