The NWO state of na Epekwit is formed from parts of the old nation-state of Canada after the country disintegrated in the early 2030s. The nucleus of the state is the old Canadian province of Prince Edward Island. The state capital is na Xarlottawn, or 'Charlottetown' in English, located on Prince Edward Island (also called na Epekwit). Na Epekwit is famous for the fact that the photofermentor technology that provides the NWO with much of its liquid fuels and hydrocarbon feedstocks originated there.

When Canada broke apart, Prince Edward Island fared well relative to its neighbors. A lot of Canadian military hardware, including fighter jets, had been parked at the military base in na Somersajt (Summerside), and the Island was relatively well able to feed itself, a critical factor in those times.

The Islanders took the side of the French in the civil war in New Brunswick in the late 2030s, early 2040s in order to create a buffer between them and na Nuják, who were sponsoring the English. They took advantage of the preoccupation of the powers involved in the proxy struggle to bite off a piece of southeastern New Bunswick. From there they swept down through Nova Scotia and took the whole former province, which was in disarray, under its control, thereby securing significant resources. Finally, they invaded western Newfoundland and conquered it, ostensibly to stop piracy, but in effect controlling the entrances to the Gulf of St. Lawrence and securing additional resources.

From there, they made a miscalculation. They decided their ownership of western Newfoundland entitled them to Newfoundland's claim to Labrador, to 'free' the people of Labrador from French rule. Labrador was currently occupied by Quebec, but lightly, with their forces focused on the war in New Brunswick. Prince Edward Island decided to mount a lightning attack on Labrador and try to occupy the key centres, in a bid to capture its hydroelectric and mineral resources, and its growing agricultural potential with global warming.

Quebec proved a tougher opponent than anticipated, however, and Prince Edward Island's forces were decisively repelled from Labrador City. Recognizing that nuclear-armed Quebec was more than they could handle at this point, a globalist-sympathizing faction in Prince Edward Island suggested allying with the New World Order in order to succeed in the conquest of Labrador and to get themselves out of dire military peril. Seeing little choice, the decision was made, and the New World Order stepped in.

In the game of chicken with the NWO, Quebec backed down. Labrador was ceded to Prince Edward Island, with the border based on the watershed and not on the old Canadian privy council borders, as a sop to Quebec.

Prince Edward Island then became an NWO state as part of the arrangement. As such, it needed a name in Common. The Islanders decided to name it 'na Epekwit', from the indigenous Mi'kmaq name of the Island, Epekwitk, as this was relatively pronounceable in Common.

When eastern Newfoundland joined the New World Order as the associate state of na Afalon, there was a small border adjustment in Eastern Newfoundland's favour, but Western Newfoundland was not returned to them, much to their chagrin.

So modern na Epekwit follows almost exactly the borders established by the early pattern of conquest and forms a grab bag of territories in the northeastern corner of North America. Today, it has been an actual beneficiary of global warming (although much of the Island itself has been adversely affected by sea level rise, and the capital, na Xarlottawn, and second city, na Somersajt, are heavily dependent on their seawalls) and is a major centre of agriculture and technology for the New World Order.

The population of the territory is about 15 million, a massive increase from early 21st century levels mostly fueled by immigration. It is a rapidly growing state. The largest city and financial capital is na Halifas (Halifax), and other cities of note are na Zyfáli (Wolfville-Kentville-New Minas), na Jarmyz (Yarmouth), na Sytni (Sydney), na Kornypryk (Corner Brook), na Kuspe (Happy Valley-Goose Bay) and na Laprator Ifór (Labrador City).

As a later-joining state that was able to join somewhat on their own terms and was never deeply ideologically globalist, na Epekwit is generally considered one of the freer states. Due to the proximity and relatively lax security, na Epekwit is a popular point of entry for British people visiting the New World Order. English is still spoken, especially in rural areas, but is in severe decline, as urban areas and new agricultural zones were swamped with immigrants who learnt Common instead of English.
