Class: preposition, pali
Forms: ejók

Description:

The modifier 'ejók' is a preposition of location which can also be extended metaphorically to indicate close association without physical proximity. It usually takes a nominative noun phrase object - when used alone, it implies an antecedent or unmentioned referent which is its object.

As a modifier, ejók can also simply assert the presence of something relative to its referent, without making a statement about instrument, purpose or cause. In this sense, it requires an object and it can function as an adjective or adverb.

The term form 'ejókyn' as a verb is an intransitive pali verb meaning 'to be present, to attend', which takes an absolutive subject which is the thing that is present. It can take an optional additional perphrastic argument in the nominative case introduced with the preposition 'e' which is the thing present at. Examples:

A Toni sy se ejókyn.
Tony is present.

A Toni sy se ejókyn e na horo.
Tony is present at the party.

As a noun, it can mean a simple presence of something or presence or attendance in general.
