Keywords: comparisons, superlatives, modifiers
Pronunciation (IPA): | 'e.vo |
---|---|
Part of Speech: | modifier |
Class: | tight binding, superlative |
Forms: | efo, efoy |
Glosses: | most, GG |
Description:
The tight binding modifier 'efo' is used to introduce 'most' superlative comparisons. See attached article for more information.
Adjective:
With nouns, efo always goes with the modifier or modifiers it binds to, immediately preceeding them.
Adverb:
As an adverb, the loose-binding form 'efoy' ['e.vo.ə] form comes into play. The superlative operator can introduce a thematic argument of the verb, directly modify the verb, or directly modify another adverb. In the former two cases, 'efoy' is required so that it can take an object other than another modifier, and/or apply to the whole verb phrase.
