maskot

Keywords: animal, pets

Pronunciation (IPA): 'mas.kot
Part of Speech: term noun verb
Class: pali
Forms: maskot, maskotys
Glosses: pet, mascot, cute

Description:

The term 'maskot' refers to a pet or mascot, and was borrowed directly from either Enligh or Spanish during the early middle period or late early period. While the form looks more like English, the meaning is like Spanish, with the sense of 'pet' as primary.

While not ordinarily used as a verb, it can be, being an intransitive pali verb meaning to be a pet or be a mascot. The benefactive moxaj form, where a dative thing that the absolutive subject either is a pet to or a mascot for would be commonly used. As well, there is a causative skurun form where an ergative owner is added, and the sense is to make something a pet, but otherwise similar to the benefactive form, actually.

The modifier form 'maskotys' can be used to mean 'cute'.
