Description:
The word 'ifór' refer to a large town or small city, large enough to have intersecting streets and business, typically with a single centre. It can sometime get applied to very large cities, too, as a diminutive to refer to them affectionately. That does not apply down the chain, referring to an ifór as a tor is generally taken as more of an insult.
Ifór is generally only used as a noun.
As a derivational suffix, -ifór is sometimes used to Commonise the names of cities and towns. The accented syllable in the suffix takes the primary stress, and there will be secondary stress from where the stress would normally apply in the word, or on a second accented syllable if there is one.
The derived form 'ifórysyn' means 'civilisation'.
