Description:
The term 'pul' has the physical meaning of the end of edge of something, and is also widely used in computing to describe a fixed-location interface to a computer system, particularly a general-purpose one. See attached article. It is somewhat the spatial equivalent of 'jerek', which focuses on ends in time rather than space. In this case, Common doesn't generally conflate time and space.
One of the major uses for pul outside of computing is as a word for a train station, especially at the end of a line.
As a verb, 'pul' is a pali verb that means 'to be an end' or 'to be a terminal' - it is not widely used.
Some expressions using pul:
- sefpul: A handheld terminal used for some set-purpose application - confusingly, 'pul' is the preferred form for general-purpose interfaces when they're fixed.
- lena pul: A physcial server on the internet - the 'computer end'.
- pul caf: A 'terminal seat', a way on emphasising the emaning 'workstation'
