Description:

The term 'zrit' refers to data or information. Its core meaning has to do with computers, but it is readily metaphorically extended to any other kind of data.

Noun:

As a noun, 'zrit' means data or information, and is generally always used in the plural, so the way that pedants say the English word 'data' is supposed to be used as opposed to the way it is actually used. In the singular, 'zrit' means a piece of data or information. The paucal is only used when the data are a small number of enumerated facts. When 'information' in general is meant, the indefinite is most often used, so 'nyz zrit'.

That said, because of two 'z' sounds back to back in the plural of this word, there is a certain auditory confusion between the singular and plural. In amny dialects, in casual speech, you will hear some dissimilation in cases like this, where the sound of the article shifts back in the mouth to sound like 'nas zrit' instead of 'naz zrit'. Careful speakers, however, manage the long consonant.

The derived form 'zritysyn' means 'intelligence', in the sense of valuable and sensitive information. as in espionage.

Verb:

As a verb, 'zrit' is a happat verb of communciation meaning to inform, with the implicit assumption that the information being conveyed is new information. It can have the sense of 'tell'. It is used much like 'zisse'.

Modifier:

The modifier form 'zritys' has a sense like 'informative' or 'factual', and can be used as a synonym for 'interesting'.
