Description:

The term 'wero' has a base meaning as a verb meaning 'to make' or 'to cause', potentially with the implication of using force, but not genenrally. As a noun, it means a cause, or the general process of making or crafting.

Verb:

As a verb, wero is a transitive skurun verb. It takes an ergative subject that is the maker and an absolutive object that is the thing made. For example:

Ja atuin te wero a slek.
The person is making the food.

There is also a common antipassive pali for with se that is taken to mean 'to act' or 'to behave' and often would include a description of the action. If two subjects are joined by 'epis', the implication is act towards each other.

'Wero' is a very important verb, in that it is the basic for the periphrastic causative. The periphrastic causative coexists with the valence-increase causative. Any causative sentence that can be expressed using a valence increase can also be expressed periphrastically with 'wero'. As well, some causative constructions that are not possible with valence change, because the verb is already transitive or ditransitive and cannot increase in valance, cen be expressed with 'wero'.

To make the periphrastic causative, 'wero' still works as a skurun verb, but the ergative subject is now the causer, and the absolutive object is the thing caused and is a dependent clause instroduced with si. Example:

Ja pocuk tene wero si a pikki se slek.
The(ERG) child hit(NP,PF) make that(ABS) the(ABS) cat stand(NP.IM) eat

'The child made the cat eat.'

The antipassive 'se slek' is not required in this construction but happens to be idiomatic, since the focus is on the act of eating and not on the thing eaten.

The derived form rowéro is a skurun verb meaning to accomplish or complete a task.

The derived form ewéro works much like the base form with a sense like refine or perfect.

Noun:

As a noun, 'wero' can mean the cause of something, and can also serve as a general word for craft. In the latter sense, it might be expressed as 'werocasyn' to distinguish it from its general meaning of 'cause'.

'Wero' is also the word for reason, as in the reason that something happens, and is the base of the expression meaning 'why',. 'kon wero' or 'for what cause'.

The derived form rowéro is an accomplishment.

The derived form ewéro means refinement or perfection.

The derived form 'weroca' has a number of uses. It has a large overlap with the English word 'agent', in the sense of a doer with volition which may act on behalf of another entity, including in technical contexts. It is also the word most often used to refer to artificially intelligent, sentient entities, sometimes with the clarifying modifier 'lenas', 'computerised'.

Modifier:

The modifier form rowéros means accomplished or completed.

The modifier form ewéros means something like refined or perfect, made exactly to expectations or specifications.
